The ASA Diamonds of the North Showcase tournament ended due to
lightening on Sunday in Portage. The tournament was called just as
the Edge team was taking the field in to face the Raiders.

the loss, the Edge offense had put up 49 runs, while the defense allowed
only 12 for the weekend. The team will compete in the ASA State Games
next weekend at the Chuck Klein Sports Complex in Indianapolis.

Another Good Day in Evansville!! |
|
The Edge performed well again putting another undefeated day in the
books. Team chemistry and hot bats from top to bottom made the
team hard to handle for all opposition today at the Stringtown Community
Club in Evansville. The Edge defeated the Outkast this morning 9-2
to win Pool B. They started the tournament off with an early
afternoon 6-1 victory over the Lady Aces; followed by a 4-0 win over the
Mayhem. Congratulations to Lauren Nacke, who hit one out in the
third game of the day. She cleared the centerfield fence by at
least 30' hitting the utility pole. Good job Lauren!!
The Edge will be back in action tomorrow at 11 AM against the Magic,
who are also undefeated for the weekend so far. The remainder of
tournament play will be held at Central High School. Good luck,
Ladies!

October 20-21
Orland Park
Pumpkin Fest
|
| The Edge was back in the Windy City this
weekend for a chilly Orland Park Pumpkin Fest. Hannah Zimmerman
and Cassie Loweth started the weekend by winning the first coin toss and
the Edge was on a roll. The ladies faced some good competition and
showed what they're made of by holding their opponents to only seven
runs and scoring 30 for a 5-0 weekend. Coach Smith moved players
around and shook things up all weekend to give college coaches a good
look at the diversity and strength in the Edge roster.
Defensively there were few errors and the team looked solid.
Offensively, the bats started off a little slow in a couple of games,
only to come alive and hit big in later innings. Alicia
Garrison had an in-the-park grand slam in the final game of the
weekend. The Edge was in the running for best finish of the
tournament after their last game. We will update you as soon as
final results are posted.
Unfortunately, the team had a late game on Saturday and the first
game of the day on Sunday, so many of you may not have been able to make
it. Follow the links for detailed

October 12-14
Homer Hawks
Fall Exposure Tournament
|
| The Edge traveled to Elgin, IL this
weekend. A tough battle with the Beverly Bandits Gold ended in a
4-2 loss for the Edge, their first of the fall season. In the
second game, newcomer Maggie Cooper took the mound. The
Edge was off to another rocky start, down 2-0 after the first inning.
In true Edge fashion, the ladies turned on the bats and tied up in the
second, and with solid defense held their opponents scoreless the rest
of the game. The final score of game two was 7-2, Edge. The
third game they came out swinging again for a 7-1 victory.
Congratulations to Cassie Loweth who had two homeruns this
weekend and Lauren Nacke who delivered a solid stand up triple.
Coach Smith said that he was encouraged and excited about the
performance this weekend. |
