Camping at France Park

This is a nice little county park near Logansport, Indiana with many activities.  Hiking, disk golf, swimming, and SCUBA diving for our PADI certified scouts.  There is even a waterfall on one of the trails.  This will be our last opportunity for diving practice before the Sea Base trip.  For more information about this county park visit their web site: http://www.francepark.com/ .   Cost for the trip will be dependent on the number of scouts that register for camping.

Scout Camp at Camp Chief Little Turtle

Scout Camp is a great time for scouts and a chance to complete many rank advancement requirements, work on Merit Badges, and perform service for the camp; all while learning to live in nature.  We currently have a patrol site reserved in Crow although we are on the waiting list for Huron.  Cost for camp in 2008 is $220 if all payments are made on schedule.

In 2008, we are providing two long term camp options for scouts since after several years of Scout Camp our young men have learned and done most of the activities available at a typical summer camp.  Many of our scouts that are 14 or older are working toward participation in the Venturing Super Activity.  As a result of Matt participating in the Venturing activity, Brian Wendel is leading Troop 149 to summer camp.  The troop needs additional adult leadership to attend summer camp in 2008, if you are interested in attending camp, please contact Matt.

Sea Base Scuba Live Aboard - Venturing Super Activity

This was planned as a high adventure alternative to Scout Camp for Scouts 14 or older by June of 2008.  Scouts on this adventure are learning to scuba dive and will explore the crystal clear Caribbean while living on a 57 foot schooner for a week learning about coral reefs, fish life and sailing!

Expect this to be a two week trip with 8 days and 7 nights spent participating in the sea base program.  Per national BSA rules, we are planning at least 2 days of travel each way.  As this event draws nearer the crew may have the option to add a day or two ahead of the activity to slow down travel and see some of the sights on the way to Florida.  This will depend on the preferences of the participating scouts and the schedules of the adults.  Once we reach Sea Base, the first and last nights will be our only time on land.  The rest of the trip will be spent on board the schooner “Conch Pearl.”

This is an Anthony Wayne Area Council sponsored event.

Since this is a major trip and much information needs to be shared on the AWAC 2008 Florida Sea Base Scuba Live-Aboard Contingent, a separate page has been created for this information.  Follow this link (Sea Base 2008 Contingent) or click on the link at the top of the Troop pages.
