Camping at France Park

This is a nice little county park near Logansport, Indiana with many activities.  Hiking, disk golf, swimming, and SCUBA diving.  This will be our last opportunity for diving practice before the Sea Base trip as well as an opportunity to learn what is the minimum amount of equipment needed for the venturing trip.  For more information about this county park visit their web site: http://www.francepark.com/ .

Sea Base Scuba Live Aboard

This is planned as our high adventure alternative to Scout Camp for boys that chose to participate.  Scouts must be 14 or older by June of 2008.  If you love water, want to learn to scuba dive, want to explore the crystal clear Caribbean, want to live on a 57 foot schooner for a week and learn about fish and sailing, then this is the perfect adventure for you!  Scouts that participate will have the opportunity to join the Scuba Venturing Crew.

Expect this to be a two week trip with 8 days and 7 nights spent participating in the sea base program.  Per national BSA rules, we are planning on 3 days of travel each way.  Once we arrive at Sea Base, the first and last nights will be our only time on land.  The rest of the trip will be spent on board the schooner “Conch Pearl.”

This is an Anthony Wayne Area Council sponsored event for up to 10 scouts and two adult leaders.

Since this is a major trip and much information needs to be shared on the AWAC 2008 Florida Sea Base Scuba Live-Aboard Contingent, a separate page has been created for this information.  Follow this link or click on the link at the top of the page: Sea Base 2008 Contingent

Venturing Crew 2149

This Venturing Crew was Chartered in December of 2006.  The crew, created to provide scholarship opportunities for members participating in the 2008 Sea Base trip, has been slow to get moving.  Activities will be planned as we build this program in conjunction with the troop, however a new Scoutmaster is needed before much can happen with this group.

Scouts may choose to move to the crew once they’ve completed the following: earned their First Class rank, finished 8th grade and passed their 14th birthday.  Scouts who chose to transfer to the crew may continue working on rank advancement toward the Eagle Rank in addition to working on Venturing ranks.  Venturing is intended to be a coed activity.  Young men and women over the age of 14 may participate as youth members until they reach their 20th birthday.
