Originally chartered at Sonlight Wesleyan Church in 1990, the Troop’s charter moved to Community Christian School in 2006.  With the fall 2007 closure of that private school, the charter was transferred to the Wells Community Boys & Girls Club.

After well more than his originally promised two years in the role as Scoutmaster, Matt would like to focus on making the Venturing Crew a reality.  As a result, the Troop is in need of a replacement Scoutmaster.  If you would like rewards beyond money (because there’s no money in being Scoutmaster) please contact any of the committee members with links below.  Training programs are readily available that can help prepare you for this rewarding role.  To quote from the recent book “Legacy of Honor” by Alvin Townley: “‘Scoutmaster is the most distinguished title a man can have,’ observed Eagle Scout Jim Breedlove.  ‘When I think of those people who have the opportunity to shape lives of individuals to produce an outcome that is relevant, the role of Scoutmaster does that better than any one position I can think of.’”

In January of 2007, a Venture Crew was chartered in conjunction with the troop.  The crew number is 2149 and interest is building as we plan activities for the new crew members.  Information about the Venturing Crew is available on the crew page.

This active troop has gone through the normal growth and decline phases of every scout troop.  However, in 2007 we took 16 active young men to summer camp at the Anthony Wayne Area Council’s Camp Chief Little Turtle.

Six scouts and two adult leaders from the troop are working on fundraising and completing scuba training to participate as members of a 12 person group attending the BSA Sea Base in July of 2008.  The Sea Base contingent for 2008 has one youth opening, if you are interested in filling this position complete the application form on the Sea Base 2008 Contingent page, get it to Julie Robison at the AWAC office and contact Matt as soon as possible.

Detailed information about upcoming events is available on the Future Outing Plans page.  Information and photos from past outings can be found on our Troop Blog pages.  Check them out and see if you would like to join us on our monthly adventures.

If you live in the Bluffton, Indiana area and want to join an active troop, consider 149.  We meet at 6:30 pm nearly every Tuesday, throughout the year.  Our current plans are available on the Troop & Crew Activity Calendar page.

Troop leaders may be contacted using the email links below for answers to any questions.  Additional information about local scouting programs, as well as a link to the National Scouting web page is available by clicking on the links provided below.
